Spring into Spring: Refresher Course!
28 March 2019
This program is especially important for our 40+ professional communicators. And those of us who know we must – but haven’t yet – updated our skills and revamped our presentation. And our attitude.
Our special guest and presenter will be long-time member Marian Walsh, Esq., just named President and CEO of Operation ABLE. Marian will share how incorporating her career strategy of consistent learning, seizing opportunities, and an operational style of flexibility and collegiality can help BWC members and colleagues make the next move.
She will share her background as a MA State Senator and Representative, Public Affairs Consultant and Leadership Coach. Marian was a Chief Administrative Officer in the Suffolk County Attorney’s Office. She is the author of Run: Your Personal Guide to Winning Public Office, an award-winning nonpartisan publication.
Her demanding responsibilities at Operation ABLE will include a re-brand as she educates the workforce about all the organization's services. It is far from the “ability based on long experience” place we knew in the past. In Workforce Development - both corporate and personal - Marian strongly believes that a committed intention, thoughtful strategy and effective collaborative partnerships lead to both short- and long-term success. She will tap in to her wealth of connections and use her amazing networking skills to turn things around!
Marian will be an empathetic presenter, as aspects of her personal life reflect many in ours: a demanding job, plus supervising care for her much-loved Mom. And loss: her wonderful husband, Judge Paul Buckley, died two years ago - shattering a well-partnered lifestyle.
Along with her new CEO responsibilities, Marian's fresh start includes leaving West Roxbury (with pup!) to soon become a resident of Charles River Park in the West End. We West Enders have the feeling she’ll quickly be a great communicator in her new community!
